Life often presents us with unexpected challenges, forcing us to face our fears head-on. Pushing myself outside of my comfort zone removed the limits on what I was capable of, giving me the confidence to achieve any goal and help others do the same!
When I signed up for my first fight, I had no idea how profoundly it would change me. It all started with a broken water heater. I needed $1,500 to fix it, and while driving to college one morning, I heard a radio ad for an ultimate fighting tournament offering the exact amount as the prize. At that time, I was also working on an anthropology paper about ancient civilizations and their practices. One common element that fascinated me was how hand-to-hand combat was integral to these cultures. Despite my athletic background, I had never been in a real fight. It was a chance to test myself and to discover what I was capable of.
The ad seemed like a perfect opportunity—not just to fix my water heater but to face a deep-seated fear. So, I signed up. As the fight day approached, I trained hard, running, hitting the heavy bag, and drawing on my wrestling background. But nothing could prepare me for the fear I felt on the day of the fight. I was terrified, shaking so hard that I could barely sign my name on the medical waivers. Surrounded by tough, tattooed men who looked like they could crush me with a single blow. I was in way over my head.
But I had committed, and backing out wasn't an option. My family and friends had driven two and a half hours to support me, and I couldn't let them down. So, I did the very thing I feared most and stepped into the ring. At that moment, I had won the real battle with myself. I fought three times that night, and against all odds, I won the tournament.
The feeling of overcoming my deepest fear was indescribable. It wasn't just about winning the fights; it was about conquering the terror that had paralyzed me. That experience showed me that I could push myself far beyond my perceived limits. It was a revelation that reshaped my understanding of courage and resilience.
With my success as a rookie, I received an offer to become a professional mixed martial artist, training with some of the best in the world and even competing in The Ultimate Fighter (UFC). Each fight was a test, not just of physical strength or skill, but of my ability to face fear head-on.
But eventually, life pushed me in a new direction. After a severe spinal injury ended my fighting career, my wife and I moved to Hawaii and opened a CrossFit gym. There, I continued to help people push their limits and overcome their own fears, whether it was lifting weights they never thought they could or finishing a grueling workout.
Our daughter, Waverly, was born on Oahu, and our son, Ziggy, soon followed. As our family grew, we realized we wanted our children to have a closer relationship with their grandparents, so we made the decision to move back to the mainland. We settled in Longmont, Colorado, which led to another shift in my career, this time into real estate.
I initially got into real estate through investing and flipping houses. From there, I transitioned into working directly with clients. Real estate transactions are stressful and often filled with fear—fear of making the wrong decision, fear of financial instability, fear of the unknown. My role is to be there for my clients, helping them face these fears with confidence by providing them with the knowledge and support they need to feel secure.
I’ve learned to understand that fear is a part of life, but it doesn't have to control us. By confronting it head-on, we discover our true strength. And that's what I strive to help others achieve!
My family and I love exploring Colorado together, living just a few miles from the base of the Rocky Mountains. Our adventures hiking, camping, mountain biking, paddle boarding, and enjoying time in nature have given me a deep understanding of the different areas and lifestyles people seek in this beautiful state. It makes me even more passionate about helping my clients find their perfect place here.
As a real estate professional, I want to take your stress and put it on my shoulders. I carry that burden throughout the transaction so you can focus on more important things. Whether it's the stress of moving, dealing with lenders, or buying and selling simultaneously, I can guide you through the processes, carrying the load so you don’t have to. Having been involved in construction and flipped houses, I’ve gained a practical understanding of home structures and value. I understand that this is one of the most important decisions of your life, which is why I am so passionate about what I do. Along the way, I enjoy building relationships with my clients, often becoming friends by the end, and delivering support even after the transaction is over.
